Website privacy policy

As of October 2026. It covers the website www.ascndly.app and the waitlist. The app has its own privacy policy.

2. Visiting the website

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). When you open it, Vercel processes technically necessary data: IP address, time, page requested and details of the browser. This is needed to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

• Language: if your browser prefers a language other than German, the home page forwards you to the English version. For this, the server reads the language setting your browser sends with every request; nothing is stored.
• The website sets a single cookie, and only when you switch the language yourself: `lang` remembers your choice (`de` or `en`) for one year, so the home page does not forward you again. It contains nothing but the language and is strictly necessary for the function you asked for (Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG). If you delete it, your browser's language setting applies again.
• No tracking, no analytics tools.
• It loads nothing from other servers: fonts, images and scripts are served with the site.
• Vercel is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, on which the transfer to the USA is based (Art. 45 GDPR).

3. Waitlist

When you sign up for the waitlist, we store:

• your email address,
• the language of the page (German or English),
• the time of sign-up and of confirmation,
• the version of the consent text you agreed to,
• if you came through a link with a source (for example from a video), that source, such as "tiktok".

We use it to write to you when the ASCEND app launches, and before that at most once a month about how development is going. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We use the source only to see which channels bring sign-ups.

• Double opt-in: After signing up, you get an email with a confirmation link. Only once you confirm are you on the list. Without confirmation, we delete the address after 14 days.
• Leaving: Every email after the confirmation contains a link to leave the list; it deletes your address at once. Many email apps also show their own button for it. You can also simply write to hello@ascndly.app.
• Retention: until you leave, at most six months after the app launches.
• No tracking: We do not measure whether you open an email or click a link.
• The waitlist is separate from the app: an entry creates no account.

4. Recipients

• Supabase Inc.: keeps the waitlist in a database in the EU (Stockholm region, Sweden).
• Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., USA): sends the emails through servers in the EU (Ireland). Resend also stores sending data (address, time, delivery status) in the USA. Resend is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; in addition, the European Commission's standard contractual clauses in its data processing agreement apply.
• Vercel Inc.: website hosting, see section 2.

All three process the data on our behalf and on our instructions (Art. 28 GDPR).

5. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You can withdraw your consent to the waitlist at any time with effect for the future, through the link in every email or by writing to hello@ascndly.app.

You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one where you live.
